I gave fake example names before. Here's an actual name i'm using.
I have a file named 227.30.001.WAV.
I Get Info, check the Hide Ext box, close the Get Info window and
the .WAV ext is still showing.
If i open the Get Info window again, the Hide Ext. box is no longer
checked.
I then change the .001 to .006 and Get Info and check the Hide Ext
box and everything works like it should. I can hide ext and it stays
hidden.
If i now change the .006 back to .001, i get a dialog box asking me,
"Are you sure you want to change the extension from ".WAV" to ".001"?
It gives me two choices: Use .001 or Keep .WAV.
If i tell it to use .001, it deletes the .WAV. If i tell it to use
..WAV it deletes the .001 leaving me with a file named 227.30.WAV
The system seems to think there is an extension called .001.
Before 10.3.3 it didn't think this. Is there a place to edit the
list of acceptable extension names?
I looked at all my old WAV files and all of the files ending in
..001 now have the .WAV ext showing. And, by the way, if i Get Info
on them, their hide ext checkbox is checked even tho the ext is
not hidden.
