Hi!

I'm using a Wallstreet II on OS 9.2.2 as a stand alone computer. I'm not
part of a network, and I don't need to coordinate my calendar with anyone
else.

I'm presently using Outlook Express 5.0.6 as my email client, and I'd like
to be able to use a fuller feature set, and maybe the calendaring
capabilities of Outlook 2001.

The installer Read Me says that to install this application, I also need to
have Exchange Server. I don't.

If I try to install Outlook 2001, will it install properly? Will I be able
to use it for what I've just asked about (email & calendering)? Will I have
the ability to import my messages and address book from Outlook Express
5.0.6? Will OE become inactivated by installing Outlook 2001? If I have any
problems with Outlook 2001, will my old messages and the ability to respond
to any of them and send email remain functional in OE 5.0.6?

Any other problems I should anticipate? Is there an easy upgrade path for my
messages and contacts after I upgrade to OS X?

Thanks for your input!

All the best,
stanton mitrany

Hi Stanton!

Outlook 2001 is for use only with an Exchange server, which is typically
found in a corporate envrionment. Outlook Express is a stand alone email
client that home users can use.

If you're looking for mail, calendaring, etc., in an email client that
doesn't require an Exchange server check out Microsoft Entourage.

Hope this helps! bill

Outlook 2001 is only for use with an Exchange server. Although they have
similar names, Outlook 2001 is not an alternative to Outlook Express
except in corporate environments that use Exchange servers.

Microsoft Entourage comes with Office 2001 and will run on Mac OS 9. It
offers email, calendaring, etc., however it has long been out of
production. If you can find someone selling a copy this may be what
you're after.

Unfortunately, I know of no company offering a free all-in-one email,
calendar and contacts application.
