Correction.
QuickTime can import any AVI files, but it won't play it (Vidoe or
Audio) "UNLESS" the right codec for the media is on your Mac.
In most cases playing any modern .AVI means adding the thrid party
"DivX" or "3ivx"Codec to support varios variations of the MP4 video
fromat. However if they used the MicroSoft MP42 compression, your out
of luck. alos, if they use WMA for the Audio, you need to use
Classic/Os9.2.2 to acces the audio.
Also iMovie requires the imported clip be a DV Stream format, so before
you can import the AVI into iMovie it needs to be converted, and for
that you need to buy Apples QT Pro veriosn or pick up a 3rd party tool.
