I have been using Windows Media Player for audio and video on my computer
for over a year. Recently I decided to download an updated version. Now I
get no audio or visual, only the message ACCESS DENIED.

I have had the same exact problem wherein I thought I was upgrading
the Windows Media Player for OS 9 and ended up with the "Access
Denied" window popping up even though the Player was working just fine
before that.

I "upgraded" on the advice of some tech wizard at one of the Streaming
Audio outfits when I informed him that I could not receive Audio
Streaming on several sites. "Upgrading" did not help with that problem
and only created the aforementioned one.

I am currently using Windows Media Player 7.1.2 1203. Any possible
suggestions??

The problem is that I don't have Mac running classic around here :-\ so
questions about this version are a little hard for me to test right now
:-|
7.1.2 is indeed the latest version available and as far as I understand
it, there won't be any update for it.

Is There any possibility that the previous version of Windows Media
Player to this will exist anywhere? I think that will correct my
problem because everything was working just fine until I "upgraded" to
this latest version of the Player.

Incidently, this problem occurs when I am actually booted up in System
9.2.2, not in the Classic mode of OSX. I prefer to use this system
because it is so much faster and more efficient for many of the tasks
I normally perform.

I am having no problem with the OSX/Windows Media Player 9.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I think you can still find version 6.x in some sites, but I don't have
any link :-\ As far as I remember, v6 supported some formats that were
removed in v7.

Well it could be a codec that came back in WMP9. I really can't test
this (My Mac simply doesn't boot in MacOS 9...).
