It's my pleasure. I loved working on Alice. It was different enough and
had such a unique spin that I enjoy playing it to this day.

I read somewhere that American McGee is working on a "Wizard of Oz"
game now. Is that true?

Thanks for the update. B)

I notice it's no longer fooled by disk images though. B(

Two bugs:

€ Sound crackles (at least in intro and menu selection).
€ Game crashes after a level finishes loading.

According to the update readme, the system requirements include:
"MacOS X 10.0.2". Should this have read "MacOS X 10.2"? I'm on 10.1.5,
so that would explain why it crashes. If so it's no big deal - since
I'll be upgrading to 10.3 in the near future.

Did you use the previous 1.1 beta builds? It generated incompatible
save-game files.

If you are getting level loading crashes with a clean Alice install
updated to 1.1.1, I'd like to know more about that, with perhaps a crash
log and a detail of which level.

The documentation on system requirements should be more or less
accurate. Alice was originally tested on 10.0.2, and might still work on
that. However, I don't think this build was QA'd against it. In all
honesty, the minimum OS should probably be bumped to 10.1, because
there's no benefit to fixing bugs that only happen under 10.0.x.

Remember, the game was released around the same time 10.0.2 was
released.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Nope. This is the first Alice patch I've applied, and I trashed
everything in the save folder before I started a new game.

Maybe I should have dumped the prefs as well?

The first level. I'll make a clean install of Alice tomorrow and try
again.

IIRC 10.2 included some updates to OpenGL, and if the patch also had
some OpenGL updates then it would probably crash on everything below
10.2.0. Or maybe not?

I dumped the Alice folder and then reinstalled the game from the CD
before applying the 1.1.1 update. I started the app, selected "new
game", and when the first level was done loading, the app crashed just
like before.

So I went into the Console prefs to get it to save the crash log.
Restart Alice. New Game... but now it doesn't crash. Huh? Turning off
the crash log didn't make any difference; it doesn't crash any more.

Guess that means it's not a problem for me.

The sounds is still horribly crackly in the intro and garbled in the
game itself - but that is solved by reducing the sound to 22 MHz.

All in all this means the patched game now runs just fine. The only
bug I can see now is the appearance of the mouse cursor in the intro
movie. Wish I didn't need to have the CD in the drive though. B(
