Post subject: Battery Removal Trouble on Powerbook G3 Pismo
Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>portables (more info?)

I just purchased a Powerbook G3 from my job and the battery is dead and
stuck inside the slot. I'm a new comer to the Mac notebook computer
world and am a little aprehensive about handling it as I would a PC.
Can anyone give me any suggestions on how I could safely remove the
battery so that I can have it replaced? Thank you for your help.

Thank you so very much! I started looking around the computer and
actually found the release lever (I'm so new to this and don't have the
user manual).
It's finally out. Again, thank you so much for the quick response.

Can you be more specific about what 'stuck inside the slot' means? Can
you move the ejection lever (on the lower front of the case, the lever
rotates towards the center of the unit, horizontally) at all? Does it
move and encounter resistance or does it just flop around?

Worst case, you might have to open the machine up to get the battery
out. If you can tell us about your technical aptitude (e.g. do small
screws violently flee from your person?) that gives us a better idea
about what advice is going to fly. Oh yeah, did you get the owner/user
manual with it? If not, get it from Apple's website and see whether it's
got anything enlightening to say about the subject.

Yours is the last on one the page, Apple part no. 034-0930

Oh yeah, if you haven't already, check the archives of this group for
suggestions on how to (possibly) 'recalibrate' your battery (Peter
Renzland has posted on this subject), who makes replacements, how to
rebuild (and the hazards of attempting to do so) your battery yourself,
etc. I've posted on many Pismo-related subjects, having been an owner
for several years before its CPU failed, so that might help to narrow
down your searches. HTH

Were you able to download the manual from the link that I gave in my
previous post?

thanks to the instructions.

You're well on your way, then. You've got a really great machine there,
IMO one of Apple's best ever. I hope you enjoy it! :-D
