I have installed the beta on Mac OSX 10.5 but can't connect to an XP
box at work, despite using login details that I know are correct as I
can connect to the same machine using RDC of XP run virtually on the
same Intel Mac.
I can get to the login screen for the remote XP box, but when I enter
user and passwd details and hit Connect, it times out saying something
like "Connection not currently possible. Please try again later or
contact your sys admin".
In case it is relevant I need to use a VPN connection, but have no
reason to believe that there is a problem with this as if there were
surely I wouldn't even be able to get to the remote machine login
window?
Any thoughts? Thanks. >> Stay informed about: RDC Beta 2.0 not working on iMac runninng OSX 10.5 |

Does you company enforce daytime only logins or anything similar? Can
you try other machines to see if you can log in to them? If you're
getting the login window then RDC has pretty much done its part.
Are you an admin on the machine or have you been set up as a non-admin
to connect?

Can't really help, but it's not a problem with 10.5 and RDC 2b2--just
tried connecting to an XP box and it works fine (except a crash on exit). >> Stay informed about: RDC Beta 2.0 not working on iMac runninng OSX 10.5 |

Bill - thanks for this, but I don't think there are any such
conditions stopping me. I can log into the same machine using the
Windows XP RDC function (ie with the same login, password etc) right
after I have failed to login using the OS 10.5/RDC 2 beta. I don't
have admin rights on the destination machine, but again, this doesn't
stop me from logging in through XP.
Puzzled! Thanks anyway. >> Stay informed about: RDC Beta 2.0 not working on iMac runninng OSX 10.5 |

You need to be part of the Administrators group or the "Remote Desktop
Users Group" to login through RDC. There is a local security policy
object to give rights to this. It is under Local Policies -> User
Rights Assignment -> Allow Logon Through Terminal Services. If you
are a User you can login to the console of the machine, but not
through RDC.
Just because you can log in locally, does not give you the rights to
do so through RDC.
