I know that the bluetooth in my 20 inch Core Duo IMAC is 2.0 +EDR
but has anyone found a way to enable either the advanced audio
distribution profile (A2DP) or the audio video remote control profile
(AVRCP) ? I bought a pair of bluetooth headphones ( nextlink
spiders)
that pair perfectly well with my imac but it appears that the sound
is
in mono ( sounds like an AM radio with bad reception) and the AVRCP
does not work.
What I would like to do is pair the headset with the imac and be
able to listen to songs streamed in stero from itunes in my office/
lab. If I dislike the song or would like to hear it again i'd like
to
be able to use the controls on the headset to advance or rewind
without having to come back to my desk or use the mac remote which is
line of sight anyways.
I spoke to apple support who after looking into this for me said
that the hardware supported these features but the the drivers were
not present in 10.4.8 ( but they might be in 10.5) and that I should
try to contact the manufacturer of the headset or try running xp in
boot camp/ parallels. Since it appears that this headset is
predominantly designed for pairing to mobile phones, I'm not
optimistic that this will be fruitful for either platform. I suppose
I could dual boot 10.4 and Xp and get a dongle that supports these
profiles in Xp but that seems like way too much work. On the other
hand upgrading to 10.5 for these features ( and not knowing upfront
if
they are supported) is not much better.
Thanks,
Sandy
