Brother 1200 dpi vs HQ1200?

I just got my new Brother HL-5250DN, it's looking good so far.

I can set 4 resolutions:

300 dpi
600 dpi
HQ1200
1200 dpi

In my test prints, "1200 dpi" seems better than HQ1200, but I can't
find any description in the manual or elsewhere.

Brother support says that

- 1200 dpi is true 1200 x 1200 dpi, the best possible but slowest

- HQ1200 is interpolated 2400 x 600 dpi, which does not look as good
