I am trying to make some photo "slide show" disks for use with a DVD
player and the TV. It is a relativly large TV.

I tried using Toast, but the program compressed the files so that the
"slides" are badly blurred. I tried using only a few pictures but that
did not seem to help. I always started with JPEGS that were about 10
Megs, but Toast cuts them kown to about 70 KB.

CAn anyone help me with some "secret" to burning such disks so I can get
at least decent pictures.

TIA

I think perhaps you're expecting too much. DVD resolution is only 720x480
-- less than half a megapixel. You don't notice it when watching a movie
because the picture is moving, but with a still photo on a large screen,
the relatively low resolution becomes more noticeable.

You might get better results if you scale the photos down and apply some
sharpening before loading them into Toast. I'd try 720x540.

Or try using the Motion Pictures app that's included with Toast 6 Titanium,
and have it apply zoom and pan & scan motion effects to your slide show.
The movement will make your slide show more visually interesting, and might
fool the eye into thinking the pictures are sharper than they really are.

Or you could check your DVD player's manual, and see if it supports JPEG
CDs. If it does, you can just burn a data disc full of JPEGs. The player
still won't display them at any better than 720x480, but it may do a better
job of scaling than Toast, and may have a zoom feature too.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hi,clw
Why not try Photo2DVD application(http://www.photo-to-dvd.com)?
It has a nice slideshow function with music for you to view on TV.
What' more, it has many transition effects, and many menu templates
for you select. Just have a try and hope it helps

Have you tried iMovie?

My software never has bugs. It just develops random features.

Have you tried an iPhoto & iDVD combination? This works well and allows
you to put it music tracks and use transitions etc. It allows only 99
images per DVD chapter, but this may be a limitation of DVD rather than
the other two packages. It will still reduce the images to 720x480 (or
720x576 in PAL), but it will allow the original photos to be stored in
the DVD-ROM area of the disc.
