When it happened to me, it did. The computer was less than a week old
and nothing anyone could suggest would make it behave. In fact, I had
to take the battery out to make it turn off(it was pretending it was
sleeping). Back at the Mac store they didn't know either. They sent it
in. It needed, as I recall, a new logic board(?) and something else.
Defect. It only cost me two 120-mile round trips, no $$.
