We've gone through a lot of changes this update. I like some and dislike
others, but one change that I have heard nothing but complaints about is the
new luck system. People are luck wiffing and getting luck hit much much much
more.
I'll walk into say, the ki cove with 6 beetles running around and lose 120
histia within 10 seconds sometimes, and other times only get hit once in 30
secs.. This much luck from something that I have nearly 3 times the defense
needed to brick?
After a week of playing, I find new luck makes CL less fun, especialy when
yer not on a big hunt, just screwing around in cove or mi or something.
Maybe if the fighter/healer ratio was 1:1 new luck wouldn't be such a big
deal, but as it is now we all get slammed by dis' and slobbers and have to
spend 5-10 mins healing. Not even worth hunting most areas now due to the
time it takes to heal after you fight junk. I don't really notice it that
much on big hunts, although it does slow us down a little.
Most of the time after a change some people like it, others hate it, but
when it comes time to play the game the player numbers pretty much stay the
same. What worries me about this update is the player numbers have gone down
a lot, even on weekends.
What does everyone else think? Fun? Unfun? Don't know yet?

That's because they're outside. It's summer :)

I haven't played much since the update so didn't even know about this,
but if there is a new luck system I'll have to ask, ask politely as
possible, what the fuck was wrong with the old one?! When I already get
hit a LOT by vermines, orgas, etc. that should only hit me very very
rarely.. to make that worse is just a horrible thing to do to the
players.

There are very few things that would drive me away from CL, but this
issue would be one of them definitely... it's the ancient "progress"
thing that we've always talked about since the beginning. Never, ever
ever make players feel like they are going backwards in skill! Ever!
Tweaking an out of balance monster/area here and there is fine, but a
system wide increase in monster stats of something like this is just
plain wrong.

Anyway.. having said that I'm gonna pop on and see what the commotion is

A lot of changes in an update? You know that's impossible.

Clan Lord is designed to be like that. You're not a newbie so you
should know this.

What is "new luck"? It sounds as if you just got unlucky several times
and now you're complaining about how Clan Lord is, and has been for a

I do not believe that anything was changed in the CL luck system this
update, nor has it been changed for quite a long time.

Well lets put it this way, it sure feels like something has changed. I
have also experienced a sharp increase in luck wiffs/hits over the
course of this last week. I acutally thought it might be an attempt to
set up sub-class trainers who might help reduce luck hits/wiffs.

Anyway HGM you answered Sabbit's post awfully fast. Maybe you can check
it out and be certain? Even if there were no deliberate change, if
enough of us are seeing a change then perhaps there is one.

Could you confirm that nothing *else* has changed that would give
Sabbit the impression that the CL luck system has changed?


Since the update I have noticed a couple of my characters getting hit
more often--


BUT, that is part of what "luck" is, isnt it? 50% luck doesnt mean one
hit, one whiff, one hit, one whiff. There are streaks. Sometimes long
streaks. It's very possible that nothing has changed. I havent clanned
enough since the update to make a solid judgement, but given how often
Sabbit clans (:P) I think it may be worth taking a further look into
his claim.

You have been wrong before (green noids come to mind), and while I
havent played a whole lot this update I have noticed myself getting my
ass handed to me by things I have bricked at 0 balance for over a year.

Sure seems like something changed.

I've always noticed luck hits/wiffs and spurts of lots of luck hits/wiffs.
My point is there now seems to be more luck hits/wiffs in general and in the
spurts (which now seem more frequent)
