I see very little difference between what you initially suggested and
just using Ankrus's messages as far as number crunchers go. So this
should be moot in the proposed framework. I'm all for the idea of
sending a message to the sidebar at some random time not associated with
the change (ie say +or- X minutes)... This would be about as similar as
the number cruncher who simply counts mini-messages already...and still
very "rewarding" to those who have to hunt for hours to see any change.
