Without starting a flame war (is that possible?), I wonder what is the
latest Canvas user experience like? I used Canvas for several years and
*loved* the 3.x versions. Best graphics program for my needs ever. I
wish it ran on OS X. I am relegated to using Adobe Illustrator --
Powerful, but lousy interface, confusing, and clumsy compared to the old
Canvas. Problem is, when Canvas went to 5.0 and later 8.x I tried them
both out and found a nightmare of Windows-like interface and bugs. Gone
was the useful, well-designed Canvas 3.x I knew. I gave up on Canvas
after those two attempts to go back.
I ask this question (above) because I find the Mac is in a peculiar
place today. The great graphics environment that spawned eary GUI
graphics programs leading up to Canvas 3.x seems to be gone. All that's
left is the high-end Illustrator, some niche products (Intaglio and
EZDraw) and Pages (not bad, but it's no Canvas 3.x by a long shot). I'd
love to have that great drawing program back, but I don't want to dump
big bucks into yet another disappointment.
Comments? (sorry about the long rant)
