I saw Civilization IV for sale at the Apple Store in the
Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey. I didn't know there *was* an
Apple Store there, but that's great for me, since it saves the long
trip up to the Menlo Park Mall.

Anyway, the box requirements are just as we saw them the other
week -- a G5 or Intel chip, 1.8 GHz minimum, and the clerk agreed with
me that this seemed ridiculously high considering Macs that meet those
specifications have been on sale only for the past month. He suggested
e-mail Aspyr to ask if they were serious.

Past month? Get real. The 1.8GHz PowerMac G5 was introduced on
6/23/03. Three years ago. The 17" 1.8GHz iMac G5 was introduced at the
end of August 2004, almost two years ago.

Yes, I agree the specs are high, especially for that type of game, but
I'll withhold my full opinion until I actually see it running and what
the hell it's doing.

While I agree that the specs seem high in the abstract, 1.8GHz G5s
started shipping just under 3 years ago.

I did that quite some time ago, and the whole answer was:

"Sorry for the disappointment."

Well, I am fine with FreeCiv and The Battle for Wesnoth. Too bad for
Aspyr that they do not see my money for quite an old game because they
are not able to support a computer I bought a few months ago for more
than 2000 Euros.
