In my experience conquest or world domination, which comes from
conquest, are the only ways to win besides building the spaceship, which
I guess is the easiest. Cultural victory is almost impossible because
you have to have every wonder all the way to the end, and the one time I
tried to go for diplomatic victory after building the United Nations, I
totally got my butt kicked. When you get your specialty units, you will
have a temporary advantage over the other civilizations and should be
sure to exploit it. Romans, Persians, Egyptians are useful for that in
the early going to conquer the nearest civilizations and give yourself
some room.
