I may be asking the wrong group but since I am a Mac user I will give
it a try. My problem has to do with Comcast who sent me a letter
stating that my cable internet connection cost is being increased by
25% since I am not using any of their other services even though the
rate I was paying was "grandfathered." (I get TV by satellite) I
called to complain and that same day my download speed was reduced to
about 160 KBPS although the person i spoke to on the phone claimed
that the connection is 768 KBPS. I first noticed it when attempting
to listen to musical videos on YouTube. The download became so slow
that the feed would play for a few seconds and then pause for several
seconds and then proceed again but continued to repeat the pauses
throughout the video. This had never happened before so I am convinced
that Comcast has deliberately compromised my download speed as they
can easily do. Have any of you experienced this problem with Comcast?
Have any of you taken them to small claims court to have the problem
resolved? I am open to any suggestions as to how to deal with Comcast.
Thanks, Jay

Jay,

Word of this has been floating all over the net. I won't use Comcast
and am sticking with the fastest DSL I can get, still slower then cable
however, when cable runs right. But, at least I am not being messed
with. I have also heard of problems with connections to VN's and being
throttled. Try opening a port above 15000 and see if it will help.
Rumor is they are also blocking ports. So, I am not using them for now
even if it means to stay with DSL for awhile. Sue them, it's not right.

Joe

Assemble your contract data if available and speak tot he city or town
in which you live. They likely have a specific contractual agreement
with them that may have an impact on such practices.

Also, your state's attorney general's office of consumer protection.

This written up in the Philadelphia Inquirer recently:

http://tinyurl.com/3ocup2

It refers to the site: comcastmustdie.com

and a Comcast email address:

We_Can_Help.TakeThisOut@cable.comcast.com to complain to.

I complained for a relative who now needs a
box to get two movie channels, and they gave
her a one year incentive reduction in cost
and sent a crew out the next day to put a box
in for her.
