Post subject: Command Prompt Window Closes Unexpectedly
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>mac>virtualpc (more info?)

Environment:
Mac OSX 10.4.10 all latest updates
Virtual PC 7.0.3 (070613) with virtual switch networking enabled
Win/2000 all latest updates
Local LAN connected through router to Verizon FiOS Internet

When running a command from the command prompt (Start/Run), a window
with black background opens briefly. Then, the contents appear to scroll
and the window closes by itself. I've tried commands such as IPCONFIG,
PING, HELP and they all terminate the same.

No problems with other applications (eg. Office, Notepad, etc.).

Not being a Windows expert, is this a Windows or VPC issue ?

TIA.

Neither, the behavior is as it should be, you execute a command, it
completes and closes its windowl.

Instead, type "cmd" and press enter at Start-->Run and open a cmd
prompt...now type the commands you want and the cmd window will stay
open.

Don't you know anyone with a real PC running Windows? All you have to
do is try it there and see whether the behavior is the same (it will be).
