Hi, newcomers to Office 2008 and oldies on Mac's should carefully read the psoting by John - se above - with this conclusion for especialy "more advanced users". Myself thinks it was a waste to pre4order the Office 2008 package, as I do not not see any reason why I should install it after carefully reading all the posting on the problems and shortcommings of Office 2008 - especially on the interoperationality with the "dos" version on Windows.

"Such users are better advised to sit this release out. Office 2008 has
limited functionality. Office 2004 is still a supported product.
Professional users and power users can afford to wait for the next version,
and in most cases, they should."

Thanks for that heads-up regarding the limited functionality of Office 2008 John, good to know for sure! I consider myself an in-depth advanced user of Office, particularly Excel. I work in Office 2007 here in the office (IT guys won't get me a mac, haha) and my wife has Office 2007 at home, but I have Office 2004 on my MacBook at home. I downloaded the "patch" onto my Mac last night and installed it, but it still won't allow me open a .docx file from my wife's computer. Any suggestions? Are they planning to re-release the patch? Has anyone else had success with it??

Can anyone help?
Wen ever I email a Word document to someone with a PC they can't open the file, I have tried every format from 2008 to 97 tru 2004 and no matter how I save the file it won't open, is anyone else having this problem or what am I doing wrong?

Thank You

Rob

How are you emailing it? Don't compress it. If sending from Entourage, on
the compose tab of preferences, set compose to appledouble. If sending from
Mail, I think the option is windows friendly.
