Hi All:

I am running OS X 10.3.2 and Virtual PC 6.1 with Windows XP on a Power
Mac Dual 1.25MhZ.

When I first installed Windows XP and tried to set up "Direct Dial"
within the Virtual C Environment I had major probles. Tech Support at
Microsoft informed me that I did NOT need to set us a "Dialer"
because if I diled in with the Mac Modem "Prior" to opening Virtural
PC and Windows XP, I could than access the net through the Mac Modem
without a dialer set up. Well, I did that and it has always worked
for the past 6 months. I was told that Windows XP sees the Mac as the
"Server" and accesses the Internet through tthe Mac.

Well, yesterday, I could NOT connect with IE as before? So I called
Microsoft support and for four hours the Tech there has been trying
to set up a dialer program from within Windows XP? Well, needless to
say...nothing works? In fact, the technician thought I was "crazy"
about hooking up to the Internet via the Mac Modem...but it worked for
six months?

My question..... Does anyone know how to re-set my mac back to using
the Mac as a "Server" for Windows..or to set up Windows to use the Mac
Internet connection.. ?? I am totally confused at this point.

George

George, did anything change on your system. You didn't say. Any new
programs? Any new hardware? Any changes at all? I had a similar problem
occur recently when running MS Word. One day it worked, the next day I got
an error message when I tried to start it. I tracked down the culprit to be
a clean-up program that ran that corrupted the preference files for Word.
You might want to check your preference files. Just find the ones for
Virtual PC, save them off to a separate directory for safe keeping, and
delete the ones in the preference folder. Let Virtual PC rebuild the
preferences for you and see if that works.

I had a similer problem I have a 12" g4 laptop OS 10.2.8 with vp 6 XP.
It was able to dial up for a week or two then it wouldn't find the
modem. Tec support said create a new drive.

It worked twice then it wouldnt find the modem.

Tec support couldn't help me does any one else have this problem?

It seems that when I get a "terminal window" it can find the modem,
but the "terminal window" doesn't always appear.

any thots on what setting I need on both the mac and in VP?
