Control Networked Printer in OS X???

Trying to control HP 5MP printer that is connected via AsanteTalk to our
small LAN (3 Macs and printer and DSL).

When using from OS 8.6 Mac, I can control printer (for example limit
number of pages printed).

When I try to use from OS X Mac, I can't seem to control number of pages
printed.

I've been using the 5MP from the OS 8.6 machine for a year or so without
problems but just started to try to use it from the OS X Mac. Maybe
there is some software that is missing on the OS X Mac.
