Dom2: what magic for an Arco 'raja?

Kali Girl is Arco-only in the demo. The obvious options for magic:

1: zero points, spend it all on scales
2: anything except Death (same as Arco mages)
3: Death

How will this affect finding sites? She wants good gems. What is the search
formula?

I get the impression that each site has a certains magic level, and if the
searcher has at least that level, he automatically find it. No idea if that
is how it really works, but what I've seen suggests it is. Note how each
province tells which magic levels have sought for treasure there.
So the way to get gems is probably to have lots of magic levels.

2 is good, 3 finds most of the sites, 4 exists but isnt usually worth
getting for that purpose. However 4 gives you extra things in blessing for
your sacred troops. Such as 4 air giving "air shield" 20% vs arrows. Each
increas after 4 increases the special and at 9 you get another special.

Beware of astral since it makes you susceptable to an astral battle. You
tend to have to take alot of astral if you take any on your pretender.

That's how it works. Sites can require up to level 4 in a skill to find.


As far as the Nataraja goes, there are alot of things to try, but I
typically look for things that are good in battle as Arcoscephale is
naturaly suited to that with their Priestess' ability to hela afflicitions.

Astral
Ethereal Weapon, Astral Shield, Ethereal, Luck, Teleport, Magic Resistance
But beware, having Astral makes you vulnerable to Magic Duel!

Water
Quickness, Breath of Winter, innate Water breathing

Fire
Fire Shield, Phoenix Pyre, innate attack

Earth
Stone Skin/Iron Skin/Invulnerable, Summon Earthpower, Iron Will

Air
Mistform, Mirror Image, Resist Lightning, Cloud Trapeze, Lightning spells


IMHO either Astral, or Air+Earth are probably strongest.

Most magic sites require 1 or 2 magic levels to find. There are a
few sites needing 3 or 4 levels. I'm assuming, of course, that the
mechanics of site search/creation hasn't changed in DoMII. If so,
finding lots of sites would imply level 2 in lots of paths. IMHO,
Arco's Mystics get 2 random elemental picks still plus fixed astrals.
So, your pretender can be spared for other chores.

Personally, I think Arco does great on magic department with just its
national magi, why bother with magical pretender? Unless you want to
do blood summon, I can see playing with blood mage as the pretender.
Other than that, I'd just go with zero-magic Nataraja/Wrym (for quick
underwater access). Another option I like with Arco is summoning
pretender. Arco doesn't get too many useful flanking units and can
really use those freebie flying summons.
