Please help a computer illiterate!

I'm trying to print addresses on a pile of envelopes, using Word and a
Canon 530. I've set the document size to 13cm by 13cm to match the things.

But when I print, the first envelope comes out blank and the printer
says it has a jam. True, the envelope isn't fully ejected; about a
quarter of an inch is still in the mechanism, but it's very loosely held.

If I load A4 paper and print, the addresses print okay - top left of the
paper.

I've tried all sorts of things: changing paper size, document size,
alignment, using NeoOffice, moving the printer to get better feng shui,
etc. But nowt works.

If anybody can tell me the solution, I'd be most grateful.

Cheers,

Ol.

Machine is a dual G5 2.7 with 4Gigs of RAM, OS10.4.11.

Ol-

Does the printer manual say anything about printing envelopes?

My guess is that the printer mechanism requires a larger envelope in one
dimension, say 18cm. Lets suppose the envelope is blank because the
printer did not know it was there. It knew something was in the feed
tray, but ejected it while trying to feed an envelope that seemed to
disappear. Since it was there at the beginning, and isn't any more, it
must be jammed in the mechanism!

Would it be practical to temporarily tape an envelope to a larger sheet
of paper? What about just folding the envelope flap over the top of a
larger sheet, and feeding the combination through?

Fred

Impeccable logic, sir. I just set the document size to A4 and it whizzed
through sixty or seventy envelopes without a hitch.

A thousand thanks. Cheers,

Ol.
