No: THAT one is Microsoft's bug :-)
You can partially work-around it by copying the equation into a graphics
application, saving as PDF, then using Insert>Picture>From File to insert it
into the Word document.
It's laborious, but it will get you a printable equation until the bug gets
fixed.
Another work-around is to find a copy of Windows Word. Open the equation in
WinWord, add and remove one character, then save and close. WinWord will
fix the equation for you until the next time you save it on a Mac.
