I have been running system 9.1 for several years and now have several
"expired" security certificates- how do I go about replacing them?

Security certificates are usually actually a web browser issue, not a
system one. Try either updating your browser or re-downloading it from
the company that produces it (it should have the updated certificates).<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
