Rumors that NASA has a new and very fast Fortran compiler for OSX (G4
and G5) in beta.
Has anybody tried it?

No, but, why would NASA be in the compiler business? Or are they beta
testing it for someone?

Found out later it is from IBM. About to go into public beta.

Indeed xlf, xlc and xlC are in public beta for Mac OS X. And since NASA
has a pre-release Dual 2 GHz G5, some tests (very interesting ones) are
coming from there. The computational fluid dynamics program they use
runs quite a bit faster with it.

See an older story on slashdot (thursday I think) or on the macintosh
forum of ars-technica.com for more information and numbers.
