Hi - I would like to store a few old Macs and peripherals in a clean
garage in Central Texas. If they are in sealed in plastic enclosures,
on shelves, and dessicants are used liberally, would the electronics
and other sensitive components be safe? Or should I bite the bullet and
get them into climate-controlled storage?

Any reports of prior experiences welcome!

PS

I expect it'd depend on how hot it gets in there.

And whatever you do, take the batteries out of the machines, especially
the ones on the motherboard. Almost guaranteed to leak out and
completely ruin the motherboard over time.

And, what makes them valuable enough to go to this expense and effort?

Ahhhh - excellent points, all! Thanks a lot. I guess I'd better find
some crowded shelves in an air-conditioned corner of our rental place
and make them run, then give or sell them away. I will hang on to an
old Mac II and a couple of monitors, though, for antique software that
cannot run in emulation on a PPC system. Kepp me busy
assembling/disassembling/testing all those suckers. They range from Mac
Classic and Mac II to a couple of Umax 900s, with a ton of peripherals
and parts.
As the place is Austin, TX, and summer is hot and often humid and the
garage is on the south side, it's definitely foolish even to think
about this.
Much obliged!
