Hi,

Is there a shareware/freeware program available that will allow me to
quantify images in OSX?

Specifically, I am a molecular biologist at the Cancer Research Center
of Hawaii. Part of my work involves following enzyme reactions
(proteolysis reactions) by running the reaction products on a
polyacrylamide gel. I then stain the gel with a protein stain, and
quantify the extent of the reaction by comparing the intensity of the
bands (the intensity of the stain is proportional to the mass of the
protein in the band). Is there some shareware or freeware out there
for OSX that will allow me to do this? What I need to be able to do is
scan in a gel, and select a number of bands, and have the software
tell me the relative amount of protein in the band (by integrating the
area of the band and the intensity of the staining). I've looked over
the Apple site, and not found anything that suits my needs.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
