Post subject: HP LaserJet 2200 on OS 10.3
Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>printing (more info?)

Equipmennt: HP LaserJet 2200D, PowerBook w/ 10.3

Printer attached through Apple Airport Extreme usb port.

Problem: CUPS setup and options

The printer works fine with many programs for doing pdf
files and most non-Unix level operations.

But for Unix operations there is basically only one mode
of printing a file.

Almost all of the -o options fail giving errors in the
error_log file "'xxx' option currently unsupported."

I have downloaded drivers from HP and apparently GIMP-print
does not support HP 2200 series(?).

One particularly odd item is that the same printer used through
a Dell parallel port on MDK9.1 CUPS works with most options except
two-sided printing. Go figure!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

In the mean time I am sticking many pins in the CUPS doll.

I just sold my HP2100M because, as HP's site says, it is no longer supported
for Mac OS X. Your printer may have fallen victim to this phenomenon as
well, though GIMP Print is giving your printer some new life, it is by no
means solving your problem. I think a new, supported printer will give you
the flexibility you need.

Kind Regards,
Nathaniel
