I had exactly the same problem, then found a note on the HP site which
addresses it:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search/document.jhtml?lc=en&docName=c000579" target="_blank">http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search/document.jhtml?lc=en&docName=c000579</a>

They give two suggestions, the second of which is to disable print
sharing (which is unnecessary since this is a network printer). After
making the change and rebooting a few times (also resetting the printer
configuration to the default), all is working well now.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
