Help! Monitor won't switch on.. no picture.

I've recently purchased a G5 without the monitor (could not afford).

I have connected a Studio Display (CRT) with the adapted that came
with the G5 and there has been very little response from the
monitor.

It worked briefly for 5mins (after numerous attempts) and has not
worked since.

It sits with the power light in orange mode and has only change to
green on the one occasion it did work.

Is the monitor faulty?

i'm abolutely gutted as i've been waiting 6 weeks to finally switch
on my new computer and then this happens!

There must be a conflict or messed-up preference in the display settings. I
have a cheap scan converter that plugs into the VGA output of my computers and
lets me view them on a TV. These can be found for under a hundred bucks. one
time I screwed up my laptop display settings, and had no other way to see what
i was doing but to output via scan converter to TV, and manuever to restore
the settings.

You could try the same thing, or take the tower in to the dealer and "borrow" a
proper display of the same type you didn't buy at first, hook it up there on
site just long enough to re-set everything in the computer, take it home, live
happily ever after.
