First, get RID of the Start icon in the dock. You're right. It's not the
proper way starting VPC. It's a very poor excuse for shortcutting. The best
way to start VPC is to go to Applications and double click on Virtual PC.
When the VPC icon shows in the dock, Control Click on it and select 'Keep in
Dock'
The will start the VPC program itself. It will bring up the Virtual PC List
window. That will show the state of Windows (saved, paused, running, not
running) Start Windows from there
