I can't answer that exactly. However, it runs on my Powermac 6500 under
both 8.1 and 9.1. So my guess would be, probably.

Thanks for that. However, based on advice that HOMM 1 and 2 were very
buggy I've placed an order for HOMM 3 Complete.

I thought that HOMM 2 was actually the most fun of the ones (2, 3 and
4) that I've played - and it was quite possible to play through it
without meeting any bugs.

I think that the thing about 2 that irritates people the most was that
the editor didn't work properly. I'd guess that 95% of people don't
really care that much about the editor any way.

Supposedly there was also an issue with the game crashing if your luck
was insanely high when entering combat, but I never encountered that
despite playing all the campaigns through to completion 3-4 times.

The main ones in the Mac version of HOMM II that I recall were spells that
never appeared in the guilds, Mass Slow didn't work even though it did
appear, and the game didn't handle the waking from sleep mode very well. I
noticed it to be susceptible to crash at game startup depending on the OS
version and extension set I was using at the time. The sleep mode issue got
resolved in a patch after a while, but the spell issues never went away. I
just found workarounds for the startup problem I experienced.

IMO, #3 had a far better range of gameplay between all the campaigns and
custom maps. And technically, it was very smooth--a nice change for New
World Computing considering how iffy their ports had been.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
