Are there any options for using one of the many generic IDE/ATA cards
available for PCs in a PCI Mac? I know that some manufacturers of video cards
wrote drivers that address chip sets that are common to PC and Mac cards,
allowing many PC cards to be used in Macs.

Also, the Adaptec's SCSI cards come to mind (although firmware had to be
loaded into the PC-flavor cards before they would work in a Mac...)

Any possibility of a cross-platform "hijack" like this for IDE/ATA cards?

Thanks,

Hi Dave,

I asked this very question last week. Unfortunately, there doesn't
appear to be a lot of options. If you do find something, please let us
all know! Apparently newer cards are locked such that the firmware can't
be reflashed from a PC to a Mac.
