IPod mini availability in the US?

Right now there is a stated waiting time of 1-2 weeks at the local Palo
Alto Apple store (my buddy got on the list last week). He was told
that shipment to Europe has been postponed to June/July.

I assume that Apple stores will get the first shipments. If you can get
your name on a list at an Apple store, you might be able to get one.
There may not be a convenient Apple store near you. Put your name on
the lists of any convenient chain sstores.
