Hi,

Has anyone had the experience of receiving emails that look like this, and
if so, what is the explanation and what the fix?

Thanks, Rafael

Snipped

the fix? delete them. HTML mail should only be between consenting adults and
by prior arrangement. Doubly true for malformed html.

you could of course allow html rendering but then you are open to malware
attacks, and identity theft.

I am not familiar with the following terms: snipped, malware and malformed
HTML. I do know HTML

The emails that are malformed are from 'commercial' sites that I have a
relationship with and which I want to receive, such as yahoo, ebay and
various subscriptions. I previously receive these emails properly
formatted. I don't dectect the use of HTML in the malformed emails, other
than the occasional use of bold text. Perhaps that's enough to qualify the
email as having been written using HTML. I don't know. The point is that
these are emails that I want to read, use, and often keep for future
reference. As for using HTML, I no longer use it in emails because I've
learned that most others do not use it. They only read plain text.

Have any of you experienced receiving such text? I gave an example on my
post of August 31st.

Could my OE5 application be malfunctioning and should I re-download it.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still puzzled.

Rafael

M-soft

Will deleting all of them in my inbox resolve the problem? I was receiving
email from these senders in proper formatting prior to the emails appearing
in this distorted form.

SNIP

Well, before doing that, (unless deleting the contents of your inbox is a
non issue with respect to preserving important older mails), I would create
a new OE Identity, and re-create the relevant mail account, and wait for
some of this problem mail to arrive and see if it's miraculously fixed.

Also, it is possible thte senders HTML is severly buggered lately, get the
sender to send to some free account, say yahoo or hotmail and see if things
look proper over there, eliminating or confirming that possibility.

Part of the original post being answered was cut out (removed) for brevity

> snipped

See Above

> malware attacks

Any attempt to inject malicious software into your computer, or some kind of
attack on your computer by malicious software.

You may have heard the words "Trojan" "AdWare" "SpyWare" "Virus" , those
are all examples of malware. Similarly attempts to inject these into your
computer (by whatever means, including some kind of scripting) are also a
malware attacks.

It is not a widely acknowledged usage, but is probably fairly widely
understood these days.

html rendering is the work of translating the commands of _Hyper_Text
_Markup _Language into the hopefully pleasing display you see upon opening ,
for example, a website in Explorer or Netscape, or what used to happen to
your emails when they displayed correctly (in a pleasing manner). You see
what is actually on the computer displaying a website or in a formatted mail
is a series of commands (in plain text) which are interpreted by your
computer to "render" (ie draw and paint) what you actually see in the window
of your screen.
