Post subject: Question about Intuos 3 Tablet and IMac
Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>graphics, others (more info?)

Hi. I just purchased a new 24" IMac. I upgraded from a G4 Cube which had
only a 15" monitor. I also have a Graphire 4" X 6" graphics tablet.
However, I'm finding that the tablet is really too small for my new
machine. I am therefore considering buying a 6" X 8" Intuos 3 tablet. I
am wondering if anyone can tell me whether the 6" X 8" Intuos 3 is big
enough for my 24" screen.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I just got a Wacom (Intuos 3 Anniversary Edition... 6x11) for
Christmas, and love it. I could be wrong here, but I don't think the
size matters as much as the proportions. i.e. are the proportions of
your screen identical to those of the tablet? Even if the answer is
"no," you can go into your Wacom preferences (in system prefs), and
adjust how the tablet relates to the screen. For example, I have a
23" Apple display connected to a 15" PowerBook -- so I have 2
displays. The tablet I have isn't identical (proportionally) to
either screen, and certainly not to both together. However, I can
choose from a number of options in terms of which parts of the tablet
are "active," and how much screen real-estate is covered. Right now,
I have it mapped to my 23" display, but I may soon switch so that it
covers both (since it's kind of annoying to have to put the pen down
and pick the mouse up just so I can control my cursor on the PowerBook
screen.

Hope that helps!
