I am making a simple 2D vertical bar chart. I want the values of each bar to appear ABOVE each bar. But when I turn on labels they appear in the MIDDLE of each bar. How to I make the data labels appear ABOVE the bars?

In Windows Powerpoint 2003 you can do this by setting "Label Position" (Alignment tab of Format Data Labels) to be "Outside End". I cannot find an equivalent command in Mac Powerpoint 2008.

Thanks!!!

Hi, I am having the same problem as Kronk. I can't seem to locate the 'Label Position' that can be found on both Powerpoint 2003 & 2007. The default setting of the labels is in the middle on each bar, how can i change these to appear at the BOTTOM (depends on our own preference) instead?

The only way I can solve this is by moving each value labels manually.. but that is too tedious. Is this 'Label Position' features even included in Mac version?

Help!

Thank you for reporting this information. In PowerPoint 2007 it appears you
can set the Label Position to: Center, Inside End, Inside Base, or Outside
End for Data Labels. Unfortunately there appears to only be the drag/drop
option in Office 2008 (like in Office 2004). This is currently under
investigation.

There are Legend location options (including Bottom) like the Windows
version. You can either select the chart and go to the Toolbox->Formatting
Palette->Chart Options pane and select an option in the Legend menu OR
double-click on the legend to get to the Format Legend dialog, select the
Placement pane, and select a location and click OK. I hope this helps!
