Post subject: Label Printers & OSX
Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>printing (more info?)

Hello All,

New here. I am looking for the best option for connecting a barcode
label printer to OSX. This is a very specific application which can use
Tiger if necessary. The main application is Filemaker.

As far as I know, there are two primary possibilities: Datamax and
Zebra. There are drivers available for these from peninsula-group,
though I have yet to test anything.

Some of these printers have ethernet based "Printserver II"
capabilities. As far as I can tell, I should be able to use the "IP
Printing" stuff on OSX to have these be seen, at least.

Does this work? I can find nothing in CUPS about this stuff.

It's difficult to just get a printer and start playing around - they're
$2,000 and up.

Thanks for any help.
