Locked up?

I've been trying to install Windows in Parallels, and it has locked up -
then my screen turned gray with nothing I try making a difference. My
less-than-one-week-old computer has been to the Apple Store 3 times, but
I can't duplicate the problem where it reboots to a white screen and
gets stuck. Also, when I install Parallels, it seems to give me an
option to install in the Boot partition which I never installed.

The window says in a bunch of languages:

You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for
several seconds or press the Restart button.

I do and then I a message to notify Apple:

This is a kernel panic. There is something wrong with your system at a
relatively low level. It may be a corrupted OS install or it may be
failing hardware (in which case it's most likely the RAM). Normally I'll
focus on the hardware possibility. Do I recall in the last few days
reading a message from you that a software update went poorly, though,
or was that someone else? It's probably worth trying a clean OS install
- this won't require you to erase your user data.

Unfortunate as it is, someone has to be in the low tail of the bell
curve and it's possible you got a lemon. You should be able to get it
swapped for a new machine (if it's a stock model) at the store if you've
been to them 3 times already and can reproduce a KP or any of these
other problems on a clean install.
