Hi,

I want to be able to set it up so I have to enter my password when l log in.
The Help says

"To turn off automatic login, open System Preferences and click Accounts.
Select your user name and deselect "Enable automatic log in" checkbox.

To change the way you login, click the Login Options tab and select the options
you want to use."

I have 10.2 and there is no "Accounts" System Preferences and "My Account" does
not show any Login options.

How do you do it?

thanks
Jeff

It's there. On the bottom row of icons.

Your 'USER' has to have Administrative rights in order to alter accounts, if
you can't see 'Accounts' in the main Preference window then you need to log
in using the master USER. Else log in as root (if you've activated it) and
amend the user you're having difficulty with.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hi,

I have only have the one user (Administrator) that was set up when I got the
computer. My Users folder only has one user. In System Preferences, the only
Icon I have at the bottom (Other) row is "Internet".

Then something is messed up in your installation. "Internet" isn't
supposed to be in the "Other" row. And Accounts should be in the
"System" row. My System Preferences shows:

1st row: Personal
Desktop
Dock
General
International
Login Items
My Account
Screen Effects

2nd row: Hardware
CDs & DVDs
ColorSync
Displays
Energy Saver
Keyboard
Mouse
Sound

3rd row: Internet & Network
Internet
Network
QuickTime
Sharing

4th row: System
Accounts
Classic
Date & Time
Software Update
Speech
Startup Disk
Universal Access

If it's set to "Display All in Categories", Internet should be in the
3rd row ("Internet & Network"). The only things you should see in the
"Other" row are 3rd-party add-ons that you've installed, such as
TinkerTool or USB Overdrive. Try checking the View menu, it should be
there too.

Maybe the access permissions are messed up on some system files. Try
repairing them with Disk Utility (in the /Applications/Utilities
folder): Go to the First Aid tab, select the boot volume (not the
drive), and click the "Repair Disk Permissions" button. You probably
shouldn't have any programs running when you do this. When it's done,
see whether the Accounts pane shows up in System Preferences.

If that doesn't help, check the /System/Library/PreferencePanes folder.
You should see one folder for each standard pane in System Preferences,
for example "Accounts.prefPane" for the Accounts preferences pane. If
it's not there, you may have to reinstall the Mac OS.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hi,

Accounts.prefPane was there and I had 2 Internet Icons so I thought maybe the
prefs were messed up. I found com.apple.preferencepanes.cache in the
username/Library/Caches folder and I threw it out. Accounts is there now and I
have 1 Internet icon.

thanks
Jeff
