MTNW and unread counts - I have MTNW set to show killed threads, and yet when I see the unread count in the group list, and then open the group, the count drops by some number. For example, there were 5 messages in csmm and when I opened the group there were only 2 messages.

The lock only applies to the first window of the type to open. If you
open a second newsgroup or a second message, it will open in a random
location.
Then it depends on the order that you close them. If the last one of
them that you close has is the original, locked one then the lock will
still apply. But if you close an unlocked one last, the lock will be
forgotten.

Make sure that you close all the other windows, then move it back and
relock it.

I've used Open All References many times and never had this happen to me.

I find that if I work through the newsgroups one by one in the order
listed in the groups pane, I don't lose the lock, but if I move around
the groups in a different order, I do.
Sometimes I may have a group open but hidden behind other apps, and so
open another group - this is when I lose the lock.
