Mac question...

Why is it that a mac can have fewer GHZ and still be faster? Is it a
result of hardware or software? or both?

Simply put: A Ghz is a measurement of how many instructions are
executed per second. The reason PC(more specifically INTEL) chips have
to run at breakneck speeds is because they dont get a hell of a lot
done per instruction.
