Hi, I have a .pps file that when I attempt to open it with the Mac
PowerPoint, it just gives me an error saying, "This document might use
advanced encryption that is not supported for PP for Mac. If this
document was created with PP for Windows, ask the author to save it as
type PP 97-2003 and 95 Presentation."

Anyway around this on a Mac without having to go back to a PC box? The
same files open fine on my Dell with Office.

Hi, no, it doesn't ask for a password to open the file on windows.
Also, I'm able to open the file with PP Viewer for Windows running on
Virtual PC - but I don't have this program installed on my laptop. I
was hoping there would be some easier way to open them on my Mac.

I wonder if it has a write password, rather than a read password. Opening
it in Show Mode might not trigger the password because there is no
capability of writing. Also, opening with the viewer would not require a
password as it can't write either.

I'm guessing you need to supply a password when opening the file on your
Windows box? If so, that's the problem. Mac PPT doesn't support password
protection. The file will have to be saved w/o password.

That makes sense. But if Neuroguy can open it *for editing* on a windows box
w/o getting asked for the password ...

Neuroguy, can you confirm that that's indeed the case? Thanks.

Ah, and is there any chance that this was created in PPT 2007?
