In the same folder that you found the Mozilla preferences
(Documents:Mozilla:Profiles ...) you will also find yourbookmarks and
cookies files. Save those files to your desktop. Saving the cookies
file is your choice. Many people have site passwords stored in the
Cookies.
If you use the mail and/or news reader functions be sure to back up the
appropriate folders for those also.
Now that you have backed up your personal data, delete the entire
Mozilla folder that is in the Documents folder. Empty the Trash.
Mozilla should now restart.
Once Mozilla is up and running again, quit Mozilla. Replace your
original bookmarks, cookies, mail, ... to the newly created
Documents:Mozilla:Profiles ... folder. Restart Mozilla again. You should
be good to go.
