Is it just me? Or is there really a problem somewhere?

I use Mail (currently v.1.3 bundled with Panther) and connect to IMAP
mailboxes. I find very strange behaviour sometimes with deleted mail -
it would rise from the dead and reappear in my Inbox... even after I
have cleared them off by 'erasing deleted messages'.

It doesn't happen all the time, nor even that often, but occasionally I
will be haunted by deleted messages. Needless to say this can be quite
annoying after spending a long time trimming my inbox - only to find my
efforts wasted.

Anyone else found this problem?

Terence

Similar. Never got messages back after selecting permenantly erase, but the
rest fits.

I found it to be a problem when I acessed the same account using different
clients. In my case, I access the same accounts via Mail.app on the Mac,
Pine under a GUI'less Linux install, Outlook from XP and IMP via the web. I
found that if I deleted messages offline using Mail.app and then looked at
the account online using another client, when I came to connect the Macup
again all the messages deleted on the Mac would re-appear.

Interestly, this has not happened since I switched to using Postfix, Courier
and the maildir (rather than mbox) format on the IMAP server. Don't know if
that's related, but it's possible.
