Here's the scenario:
I'm using Mail.app to read email off anExchange server using IMAP.
Some messages, annoyingly enough, have that header in them to enable read
receipts.
Apparently, Mail.app will reply to the read receipt requests without
notifying the user (and from what I can find, there's no "read receipt"
option in Mail.app to request one from users I send messages *to*).
Is there SOME WAY of either stripping that header out fo the mail before
Mail.app sees it (without screwing up the IMAP functionality...), or
getting Mail.app to either ask about sending the receipt or turning it
off entirely? If it weren't for the IMAP, I'd be sorely tempted to just
use POP and some kind of a fetchmail/procmail setup to filter everything
and have Mail.app get mail locally... :-/ >> Stay informed about: Mail.app and read receipts |

I looked at that page and couldn't see how it would help the OP attain
his objective. So I installed the thing, but I still don't see where
one can tell Mail to not respond to a read receipt request.

I misunderstood his request. I thought part of the question was how to
send the request. Sorry.

Nope, just want primarily to have Mail.app ask whether it should
acknowledge the read receipt request, or failing that, some kind of
workaround that would strip the read receipt header out of the mail
message before Mail.app replies to it.
I wonder if the read receipt would be acknowledged if I created some kind
of auto-forwarding to myself rule with the filters? Hmm...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Mail.app and read receipts |

Mail.app badly needs this feature. I figure that a read receipt
is a sure fire way for a spammer to know that s/he has reached a
live e-mail address.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Mail.app and read receipts |
