how much memory for 10.2.6/10.3? - I'm getting a new G5 with 256 megs. I'm planning on adding memory but I'm unsure whether to add 256 or 512 for a total of 512 or 768. The ways these things work, it really isn't much more expensive to go the 512 route over the 256 route. ..

The new Mac Pro is said to work best when there are 4 memory modules or more installed (so that it can have 256 bit wide access to data). I'm wondering how this plays out in various scenarios of memory sticks.. * multiples of 4 (identically sized) memory sticks installed * mix and match (i.e. 2 x 2gig + 4 x 1gig) * once you have 4 sticks, additional sticks don't slow things down * matched 4 sticks are fast, access to additional pairs are slower -- dstanbro.DeleteThis@spam.o.matic.bigpond.net.au >> Stay informed about: Memory layout possibilities in new Mac Pro
