I have just wiped by iBook's drive and did a clean install of Panther.

Now I am faced with one problem: the menu bar refuses to show the
time/date/ASM/sound/Airport stuff (icons etc.).

I have tried, unsuccessfully, to enable ASM/time display in menu. Clicking
on the sound icon in menu option in Syastem Pref wil not work, in the sense
that the 'tick' will not stay in the selection box.

Why?

I had the reverse problem. Those items kept appearing even when I
unchecked each on the Preference Pane. Repairing permissions fixed it.

No luck still, even after repairing permission.

Anyone has a solution?
