I have a whole bunch of local (not on server) emails in Outlook 2001 on my
Mac which can be seen and read properly. I want to import them into
Entourage 2004. The Outlook Importer Tool which I downloaded refuses to open
the PST files because it says they're improperly formatted. Maybe I've got
the wrong thing as the PST file though. Can someone tell me how, given that
I see the right thing in Outlook 2001, I generate and find a PST file from
those messages that Entourage 2004 will read?

Thanks,

Mike

I struggled with that for days, until I found in someone's blog a
little software piece recommended -
called "Outlook2Mac." I normally wouldn't tell people to go out and
get new software, but this is only $10. It works fantastically. I was
really surprised. There was a hickup with some of my old emails having
attachments, but I got that resolved when I emailed their tech support.

It's on littlemachines.com - something like that for the web address.

My Outlook folders are working on Outlook 2001 on my Mac - I don't have
them on a PC. This is PC software, right? I don't have a PC... Surely if
these messages can be accessed properly by Outlook on the Mac, there's some
way to export them on the same machine?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Paul -

When I run Outlook 2001, I can click on "work offline" and then I see my
local folders full of emails (this thing was, a long time ago, connected to
an exchange server, which is where they came from). Is there really no way
to export these local emails without going back and forth through a network?
I've got approximately 6 Gigs of emails and even if I hook up to an exchange
server, I'd have to do it in a lot of pieces. It would be a nightmare and
very slow. There's really no script for doing this locally? I have a
registered copy of your excellent import/export Entourage X scripts
(although I haven't been able to update to the latest version because Kagi
can't find my registration code) - is there anything there that works on
Outlook 2001?

Also, I noticed in the instructions for the PST Import Tool, the
following:

To diagnose and repair a corrupt PST file by using Inbox Repair Tool in
Windows
1 In Windows, click Start, and then click Windows Explorer.
2 In the C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 folder,
double-click Scanpst.exe.
3 In Inbox Repair Tool, click Browse.
4 Locate the PST file you want to diagnose, and then click OK.
5 Click Start.

If there are no errors, the file can be imported by using the PST Import
Tool.
6 For details on errors in the PST file, click Details.
7 Select the Make a backup of scanned file before repairing check
box.
8 Click Repair.

The PST file is repaired and can now be imported into Entourage 2004 by
using the PST Import Tool.

I did that - it claimed it found 2 errors, and claimed to have fixed them.
I then brought the file back to the Mac, but PST Import Tool still refused
to import it...
